There is an even more certain way through which the bettor can be assured of a profit than byw ay of the value bet, and that is through what are called sure bets.

A sure bet, also known as an arbitrage (or “arb”), is where the punter actually backs every eventuality within a particular line in the certain knowledge that one will be successful. By backing each option with different books at prices which ensure that, whatever the outcome happens to be, the return will be greater than the sum total of all the stakes, a small guaranteed profit is the result.
